There’s something special about gathering around a fire with loved ones. It’s a simple pastime that human beings have enjoyed for thousands of years, and the fulfillment we get from it hasn’t changed! That’s part of the reason why so many people choose to include fire pits in their landscape design.
We’ve installed fire pits of all shapes and sizes throughout San Diego. They can go from simple to extravagant, depending on your style. Maybe you just want to make your house a go-to hangout spot. Or perhaps you want to WOW guests as well as welcoming them. A great way to set your backyard apart is by creating a unique fire pit. Here are a few ways to take your fire pit design to the next level!
We can create a fire pit area that’s a step or two down from ground level, making a more cozy fire pit area. Place a few benches or chairs in there, and you have a unique backyard hangout spot.
If you don’t want the seating area to be set within the ground, consider setting the firepit down a foot to make the flames closer to the ground. You can surround the fire area with stones so the grass isn’t damaged, and voila! You have a unique fire pit placement. Make sure you have a cover for it, though, so there’s no risk of anyone falling!
If you have a rocky backyard or a large rock formation, you can carve out an area within the rocks to serve as a fire pit. With a unique design like this, you won’t have to worry about too many flammable substances surrounding the fire, and you can be transported to a beautiful, rocky mountain top.
If you have a large pool, you can designate a corner to build a fire pit area. Imagine being right beside the water, but surrounded by a warm flame. You’ll feel as though your backyard is a luxury resort!
One of the most unique things you can do with a fire pit is to make it part of a fountain. Imagine the top tier of a fountain serving as a fire pit, and you have an incredible water and fire feature that will impress any guest!
When most people imagine a fire pit, it’s usually circular or a square. If you’re looking for something new, a rectangle or L-shaped gas fire pit is a great option. These shapes, sometimes referred to as a “fire trough,” allow more people to gather, and don’t limit the fire to just one central location.
Consider ordering a custom fire pit that also serves as a table. A large, rectangle stone table with a fire pit set within it is a practical, yet a unique, idea. The table surface would be perfect to set out the s’mores ingredients, or a place for your hors d’oeuvres and wine!
