Your landscape is the thing that gives your house the majority of its curb appeal, but it also serves a more important function. Your landscape is what draws you out of the house and into the yard, making your life richer and more enjoyable. The quiet garden bench where you can enjoy nature; the fire pit where you and your family gather in the evenings to talk over the day; the pool where the kids and their friends enjoy summer fun–these are all snapshots of a beautiful yard tailored to your unique needs and crafted to allow you maximum enjoyment of your space. Why not spend some time this spring thinking about how you can make your yard its most beautiful and begin enjoying your outdoor spaces to their fullest potential?
Making a Landscape Plan
A beautiful yard begins with a good landscape plan. When you are making these plans, it is helpful to start by asking yourself a few questions:
What kind of plants do I like? One of the most basic decisions for any landscape plan is what plants to use. Depending on your taste, there are plants that are rich in blooms and color, plants that are minimal and low-key, and even plants that provide food–all of which can be combined in your landscape plan.
How much time can I devote to maintenance? Another important consideration for a landscape plan is maintenance. How much work are you willing to do, or pay to have done, to maintain your beautiful yard? Certain plants and additions will require less upkeep than others. Some are almost self-sustaining, while others may need regular applications of fertilizer or other supports.
What are my feelings about preserving the environment? If you are passionate about water conservation and using only organic products, it is important to communicate this to your landscaper during the planning stages. Some plants and other additions conserve water; some do not. Choosing the right plants and hardscape to give you a beautiful yard while still using minimal amounts of water is something that must be carefully thought out before putting in any landscaping elements.
How will my family use the space? This is one of the most important considerations you can have in terms of a landscape plan. Do you want fire or water features? Do you need to zone your yard for play, gardening or other uses? Think about how your family currently uses the yard and what you would like for them to be able to do with it.

I must say that Juniper Landscape Company exceeded my expectations, completing the job in a timely fashion and for a fair price which we negotiated ahead of time, and which did not change even though there were difficulties with the terrain around my home in Stonebridge Estates (Scripps Ranch). Juniper Landscape Company was on-time,... Read More

I hired Juniper Landscape Company. They came out and actually listened to what I wanted. They... Read More

Juniper Landscape Company has been fantastic. Before them, we ran through three or four other lawn and landscape maintenance companies who did spotty and sometimes outright poor work, were not always reliable and who ended up creating problems for us in a variety of ways. That experience led us to subscribe to Angie's List... Read More
