Spring is fast approaching, and what could be a better time to introduce some new varieties of plants into your landscape? Juniper Landscape Company has some suggestions for San Diego’s hottest spring plants for 2014. Check out these fantastic plants and consider putting a few into your own yard this year!
Mexican Bush Sage, Salvia leucantha. This drought-resistant plant boasts lovely lavender blossoms in the spring and makes a great ground cover the rest of the year. It is also attractive to hummingbirds.
Copper Canyon Daisy, Tagetes lemmonii. This beautiful little yellow daisy is the perfect flower to greet you after a boring winter! It lies dormant during the winter season then bursts into bloom to welcome in spring. Its high heat tolerance and low water requirements make it easy to care for, no matter where you place it in your yard.
Fleabane, Erigeron karvinskianus. If you want to forego the worry of season blooms, just pick this hearty flower and sit back to enjoy year-round blossoms! The fleabane or Santa Barbara daisy has a lovely white flower and serves as an evergreen groundcover as well.
Coral aloe, Aloe striata. It is hard to beat aloe for its all-around usefulness in a garden. If you are environmentally conscious, you can put it in your yard without fear of heavy watering requirements. Its branches can be broken to use on sunburned skin as a cooling, soothing remedy, and it even features beautiful red flowers in the late spring. Place this plant in the sun to get reddish leaves or in the shade for a beautiful blue-green hue.
Bougainvillea, Bougainvillea. For many people this plant typifies the beauty of tropical climates. While the flowers come to their full glory in the fall, spring is a great time to begin training the climbing vines where you want them to go. An added bonus is that bougainvillea suffers from very few natural insect pests.
Hybrid Palo Verde, Cercidium ‘Desert Museum’. For a new twist, try this exciting semi-deciduous tree if you have a large yard with open space. It will eventually grow as tall as 40 feet, making it a great permanent shade option. Attractive to bees, the Palo Verde sports beautiful yellow blossoms in the spring.

I must say that Juniper Landscape Company exceeded my expectations, completing the job in a timely fashion and for a fair price which we negotiated ahead of time, and which did not change even though there were difficulties with the terrain around my home in Stonebridge Estates (Scripps Ranch). Juniper Landscape Company was on-time,... Read More

Juniper Landscape Company has been fantastic. Before them, we ran through three or four other lawn and landscape maintenance companies who did spotty and sometimes outright poor work, were not always reliable and who ended up creating problems for us in a variety of ways. That experience led us to subscribe to Angie's List... Read More
