The word “gabion” isn’t necessarily one you come across every day. However, gabion walls can be an effective, attractive, and inexpensive method of fencing that can tie the look of your home and landscaping together.
In this issue, the San Diego landscaping design experts with Juniper Landscape Company will talk in-depth about gabion walls, and the difference maker they can make for your landscape.
Dating back thousands of years, gabion (originated from the Italian “gabbione,” which means “big cage”) walls are essentially cages filled with surrounding material (rocks, sandstones, gravel, marble, granite, cobblestones, wood, clay, etc.).
While the original gabion walls were constructed mostly of wicker, today’s gabion walls are made of a metal mesh that will not bend when filled.
Their design provides a host of benefits of gabion walls.
